Remove oatmeal from heat and let stand for 2 to 3 minutes. Boiling water place instant oatmeal in a heatproof bowl and add ½ cup boiling water. Stir oatmeal, cover and let stand for 3 to 5 minutes. Microwave place oatmeal in a microwave safe bowl and add ½ cup water. Stir oatmeal, cover and microwave on high for 1 to 1:30 minutes. Let stand for 30 to 60 seconds. Stir well before eating.
